Question: Why does healthy food seem to be so much more expensive than fat filled/cholesterol filled food?
Go to McDonald’s for example, and all the salads and grilled chicken breast sandwiches are so much more expensive than the burgers. Is this a factor in the increased rates of obesity for the indigent vs. the everyone else? Is there cheap healthy prepared food out there?

The way to save on healthy food is preparing it yourself. Buying from restaurants costs more than just cooking and/or preparing your own meal. It will take more work as far as cooking, but it will save you to cook your own meals. Utilize those leftovers.

not really. if you go grocery shopping you will notice that pork beef meat and bread cost more than lets say lettuce (69cents each), cabbage (99cents), cauliflower(1.39 ea.) carrots (even less) onions garlics sold in cents. people just need to learn how to prepare their own food. lets say fruit smoothie and a banana for breakfast. salad with 1 tbs dressing for lunch. a boiled egg and tuna (very cheap!) on top of 1 slice wheat bread, cauliflower pureed soup for dinner.

Bingo, now you know why those in poverty have higher obesity rates. Some people might say it’s some kind of conspiracy to make everyone fat and lazy, but I kind of doubt that. Generally, processed food is less expensive to make. Plus, processed foods do not need to be fresh. They can be frozen and stored in a warehouse for six months before McDonald’s needs to order it. And, processed foods are easier to prepare. Heat lamps, microwaves, fryers, etc. They also don’t have to worry about whether or not the food is “organic” or “free range”, or “meat” or “edible” for that matter. Exactly what part of a chicken does the “nugget” come from? Who cares? Throw the whole damn chicken in a blender, toss it onto an assembly line and let some giant mechanical cookie cutter chop it up into bite-sized nuggets for human consumption. Oh, and who needs to worry about losing profits from the occasional sick and dying animal when all of your livestock are force-fed antibiotics? Yesiree, gotta love processed food. If you can even call it food.
