What Is The Most Possible Healthy Food For My American Pitbull Terrier?

My APBT is 1 year and 3 month old and weigh about 50+lbs. I’ am currently feeding my pet iams dog food. I heard a lot of rumors that on the long run it’s really bad for my pet. So does any one have any recommendation on what kinder brand dog food is the most healthy without any added chemical and all that nasty gunk?

dont ever buy food for it from the grocery store, a lot of pet stores sell higher quality food but it still has a lot of fillers. we feed our 1yr old pit and 8week old pit chicken soup for the puppy lovers soul (large breed puppy). its like 28 bucks for a 17lb bag, but doesn’t use a lot of fillers.
another good brand is EVO, you should check it out, its pretty expensive, but it gives them everything they need, we plan on switching to that as soon as our dog is off puppy food.
these brands are more expensive but i think they are really worth it.http://www.chickensoupforthepetloverssou…
is the one we use, you can browse around, it says all the ingredients as well as nutritional values.
    good luck!

Heat is the deathblow to the nutrients needed by your APBT. Kibbles today are cooked at such high heat they lack all of the phyto-nutrients, enzymes and trace minerals your dog needs to have a vibrant immune system and healthy digestive tract.
If you’re feeding a kibble, make sure you get as much meat in the ingredients as possible. The type matters a named meat is better than a “meat” meal which is better than a “meat”-by product. So to repeat:
    Lamb by-product OK
    Lamb meal better
    Lamb BEST!
Since their GI Tract is short they have to break down their food in a hurry for absorption. If it doesn’t breakdown completely it just passes out the back end…if you know what I mean?
Best diet is a raw diet and with a little planning isn’t very difficult to do. It can be less expensive too!
    Personally, I do a semi-raw:
    A little kibble
    A little raw chicken
Supplement (trace minerals, nutrients and enzymes) I use Dinovite products.
My dogs have never been healthier.

For starters any Vet will tell you that boiled chicken and deboned is good for them. You could try making a broth and throwing in some veges and some rice 15min before it’s done & whatever else you think your dog might like you might need to throw in a few chicken stock cubes for a bit more flavour make it nice and thick for your dog kind of like a risotto.Chicken & rice is a favourite for dog’s they love it.Your dog is still young & you can change his eating habits. It’s definitely a lot better than dog food. You must also keep a good quality type of dry food for your dog.But you can also try & google dog food recipes as there is quite a few web sites out there with loads more variety and ideas for meals for dog’s.Good luck!

You should consider feeding your APBT a raw diet. My neighbor feeds her APBT Embark Dog Food. It is a dehydrated, raw food that is made from USDA turkey, organic flaxseed, potatoes, celery, spinach, carrots, coconut, apples, organic kelp, eggs, sesame seeds, bananas, cranberries and rosemary.
Here’s where she buys it: http://www.petwellbeing.com/embark-dog-f…
Embark contains no by-products, extra salts or sugars, artificial colors or flavors, and no chemical preservatives. Other common ingredients in commercial kibble dog food that are NOT in Embark include beet pulp, rice, wheat, corn or soy. The reason for the absence of these ‘other’ ingredients is that they are considered to be common allergens for dogs. They can cause problems like dry or itchy skin, lack of energy, ear problems and even hair loss.

I personally have 2 pitbulls. Well 1 is lab/ pit mix. But I feed them Lifespan by petguard, or canidae. I switch it up just so its not constantly the same thing. I also place a scoop of nu-pro dog supplement on their food each time they eat. 1 is almost a year old and my pup is 15 weeks and solid as a rock already.
