Question: What is a “pointer review” mean in term of book reviews?

Oftentimes, books have reviews on the back that the book has received or reviews the author has received for other books. I know a starred review is thei equivalent of a high rating (like an A+) for a book but what does it mean when a book is given a pointer review?

This is a first for me, and I’ve been reviewing romance for five years. The only thing I can think of is in terms of rating. Some review sites use stars, others use point systems, etc. It may be referring to a rating value. Just a guess though.

I had been looking for info on pointered reviews myself. From what I have found, they seem to originate from Kirkus Review and it means that it falls under one of their “pointers for ….” and then fill in any subject you like.
