Question: What is a good healthy recipe book?

I am trying to learn how to cook more healthy. What are some good cook books, that have recipes I’ll actually use. Not extreme crazy healthy, but I want to cut down the fat and introduce more vegetables into my meals.

Cooking Light has OUTSTANDING recipes that are all low in calorie. They give you the calorie count, fat content, and all of the nutritional information below the recipe that you’ll need to know when you make it. They don’t taste like diet recipes, but they’re outstanding.

You can get them at any bookstore in the cooking section. They have one that’s for fast meals, which I recommend if you’re not interested in spending a lot of time in the kitchen!

The book by Jessica Seinfeild called Deceptively Delicious. She wrote it mainly for children, but I have the pickiest fiance in the world who just will not eat vegetables. So I bought it and he actually likes them and gets the vegetables and can’t taste them. It’s a really nice book, you should look into getting it!

I can recommend several books that I highly value. I run a healthy recipes website and always appreciate a book that delivers with every recipe.

#1 Is Donna Klein, Mediterranian Vegan Kitchen. Anything, absolutely anything I cooked from this book came out fantastic. I cooked the whole Christmas menus from it, and everyone, including non-vegans, were absolutely happy. These recipes are autentic Mediterranian recipes. You may say that Mediterranian diet is not particularly low in fat, and you will be partially right – since this book is vegan, there is no animal fat or cheese in the recipes, and whatever olive oil is required, it can be cut in half or reduced even more. Donna wrote more books, which I am sure are as good as this one.

#2 is from Nava Atlas, Vegan soups and hearty stews.

My teenage daughter cooks fantastics soups from this book, and they are healthy and low in fat.

#3. is Dr. Ornish’es Eat more, weight less.

I haven’t tried many of his recipes, but all of them are created by professional chefs with no fat added at all. I read them, and found some of them very interesting. The reason I haven’t try more of them was that my phylosophy revolves around quick and easy cooking, and those recipes required a bit more attention and time from the cook than I would want to. There is no doubt they are tasty.
    Hope this helps,
    Olga
