What are your reviews on the book Wicked?
Hi,I did the following:
Q&A: What are your reviews on the book Wicked?
Just wondering if this is a book worth reading. I would also like to know from those of you who have actually read the rest of the books (Son of a Witch, A Lion Among Men and Confessions of an Ugly Step-sister), if these are also worth my time in reading?
Please let me know what your opinions are on these books and are there more I should take the time to read, thanks!!

Personally, I felt that it was an engaging, well written book. However, at certain times it could become a bit tedious. The pacing was a bit slow. Also, I warn you. If you are not comfortable reading about sexual situations, you might want to wait a year or two.
I think all of his books are interesting, specifically if you like your fairy tales!

I read Confessions of an ugly stepsister — it’s a takeoff of the Cinderella story — and thought it was pretty good. It takes place in the Netherlands during the Tulip craze.
I also read Wicked and thought that was even better, which is a take off of the Wizard of Oz, from the witch’s point of view. Well worth the time to read it.
I haven’t read the other two. I’m assuming they’re sequels to the Wicked book (I could be wrong, I haven’t seen them yet).

I have read Wicked, Son of a Witch, A Lion Among Men, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, Mirror Mirror, and Lost. I enjoyed all of these books. Maguire’s perspective on these old fairy tales is very adult and sophisticated, these definitely are not stories you would read to kids. Most of his books show how a character’s past shapes his or her future and the consequences that follow poor choices. His books make you think about what is beautiful or ugly, evil or good. The thing I love most about his writing is the fact that his characters are so well developed, it is easy to understand them and why they do what they do. Gregory Maguire is definitely worth your time.
