Compared to our own teleplays, American teleplays re more commercialized. The audience rating mainly dominated the fate of a teleplay. If one teleplay’s audience rating is satisfactory, then there comes the second season and the third season.     I watched American movies and American TV plays from my college days. All the time, I like American movies very much, because of the compacting and affecting plots and the characters who all have their own personality in these stories. The first American TV play that I seen was <Growing Pains>; it’s a famous American comedy published by ABC. The comic shorts of all total 7 seasons and 166 episodes soon became the model of many others shorts in the same kind.
    In my opinion, a good TV play, maybe excluding comedy, must include two points: cliff-hanging plot and imposing characters. But too many TV plays neglect the essentials and act more on the trifles now. Usually, when you watch all episodes of a common play, you forget all about it. I can’t tolerate that a TV play is banal and laggard both American TV plays and others. So, I think some American TV plays are classic, for example <Prison Break>, <24>, etc, because they deeply impress me and I can’t forget something about them for a long time.
    Maybe, the keen commercial competition makes the success of American TV plays, while the absolute monopoly let Chinese TV programs disappointing. But as a Chinese, I hope I could see more and more classic Chinese TV plays in the future.
    A great TV play is like a cup of good tea, it’s endless in aftertaste. But in most recent times, I can’t find another classic TV play. Please tell me when you know it
