Question: What kind of outfit should i wear for my christmas dinner?

We’re having a traditional family christmas, with all the grandparents etc, so we’ve got to get dressed up smart for it. I’m not really sure what I should wear, I’m 16, blonde and petite, but I don’t really want to look like I’m over dressed for the day!

I’m going to go shopping for it, and happy to pay for the right outfit.

Links preferred, but all suggestions welcome!

ANSWER:

Answer by Oren Ishii
Wear one of those old lady sweaters with the reindeer and bright green pants… you’ll be the talk of the party.

Answer by ELMO ROX MY SOX
http://i19.tinypic.com/8a07iwx.jpg

i love that outfit..and its dressy but not too dressy

Answer by sweetn_low
What about a pant suit. You want to be comfortable, not picking panty hose from unmentionable places all day.

Answer by bunny420
you can never go wrong with the LBD good luck

Answer by lydia
maybe you cud wear a cute dress with flats?
or skinnies with cute top?

Answer by MeMe
well if you must get outfit for a christmas dinner it all depends on the dinner you are going to like these example:

1) boyfriend house- wear dress pants and a christmas color shirt or wear a nice dress but not to tight or you can wear a pair of jeans with a christmas sweater and heels or boots
2) neighbors house – you can wear pair of jeans pants with heels and a christmas shirt or sweater or a nice dress.
3) anything nice and cute if you are doing the dinner at your house cause more and likely your parents have people coming over.

MOST:
if your mother brought you a dress or something to wear you can wear but just put your own twist or style to it OKAY.

Answer by kokorop
As a rule thumb, as long as the display looks good and taste good, it doesn’t matter what you wear and no one will care. Wear what you feel is comfortable.

Question: What kind of healthy snacks can i take to work?

I have been diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pursuer and I am now on medication. Everything that I usually snack on at work I will have to stop eating. I know yogurt and granola is good, but dose anyone have any suggestion on some healthy snacks that I can take to work, that won’t affect my sugar or salt intake?

The answer in the following:

Answer by Zach
Carrots or those little oranges or apple slices

Answer by lindzeelover
I don’t know about sugar or salt in these items but some healthy snacks: unsalted pretzels, carrot sticks and dip?, plain rice cakes, cottage cheese?, other cut up veggies, maybe some kind of dried cereal?, smartfood popcorn?, those dried breadsticks they sell in packages- (I usually dip it in some unselted butter) crackers and cheese, oatmeal cookies, nuts, trail mix – without too many salty items (like raisins, nuts, chex cereal, unsalted pretzels, cheerios, ect)
sorry if all of these fall under the dreaded not-allowed category, someone with diabetes may be of more assistance!

Answer by Critz
I take a little bag of mini ritz crackers and cheese to work everyday.. it holds me over till dinner and pretty healthy too..

Answer by ehack31
Ummm…granola sounds a bit carb heavy to me. I would think more in line with carrots and peanut butter, celery, a carb choice serving of crackers–not too many, sugar free jello, sugar free pudding–remember to count the carbs, & salad are all better choices.

Answer by mrs wilson54
fruits and vegetables are always good but check with your doctor first to make sure you eat the right things

Answer by kerri
I’m not sure if you are type 1 or type 2. I’m type 1, so sometimes i may have to take insulin with my snack if it has alto of carbs. But low carbs is the way to go. try a salad, i put in cucumbers and baked chicken slices. proteins don’t raise your blood sugar as much. but they still fill you up. i avoid fruit, because even the natural sugars tend to raise my blood sugar. oh and cheese is a good choice too! Good luck, it gets easier with time!

Answer by KUJayhawks#1fan
Granola is normally high in carbs so that is no good my dear. You need items that are low carb for your snacks. Veggies are a good choice. Anything that will be 15 grams or less of carbs per serving will be a good choice. Beef Jerkey is a great choice, as it is very low in carbs, but watch the sodium. When you have your appointment with a dietician.(which you need to do if you havent yet) They can help you with other snack ideas. When you know what your carb count will be, it will get easier and you will be good to go. Good luck

Answer by The Stig
Many, many things.

I’ll give you what i call the healthy list:

Apple / Apple Slices
Oranges
Mandarins
Yoghurt
Granola
Wholegrain Rice
Wholemeal Pasta (not to much)
Bananas (they’re easy to squash, careful!)
Carrots (washed, the skin contains most of the goodness)
Fish Cakes (personal favourite)
Corn Fritters
Fruit Salad

and much more…

Make sure that when you cook foods you use light oil. Make sure you avoid chocolate or sweets. Try making a fruit salsa by cutting up different fruits of your choice then cutting it up into bite size pieces then put it in a tupperware container.

Delicious…

Anyway, hope this was helpful to you. Have fun at work with your tasty, healthy snacks.

And try to not peel fruits, the skin retains much of the goodness. Stay away from fruit juice. Seriously. It’s really bad for you.

Good Luck

Question: Dyson or Oreck? If none of these, what kind of vacuum cleaner are you happy with?

Shopping around for a new vacuum cleaner, just looking for some opinions!

The following is the answer:

Answer by Sheri B
My husband and I bought a Dyson, the absolute animal, almost three years ago, I still love it. If you have a dog or cat, it will pull up the hair really well. There are two filters, one you clean once every six months and the other is the dirt you dump daily. Anytime you break a belt or have problems, you call customer service and they send you whatever you need, no cost for the first five years. Hope that this helps you decide.

Answer by lala
I have never had a Dyson or an Oreck. However I do have a TriStar. It is wonderful. I have a German Shepherd dog, and he can shed somthing terrible at times. This is the only machine that can handle the dog hair. I was having to replace my sweeper every year almost. The last one being a Kirby. Only TriStar for me. Good Luck. Oh, I might add, they are pricey, I think I paid like ,500. for mine. Worth every penny. I’ve had mine for over 5 years now. No problems, just keep filter & bags changed.

Answer by daisey36
I have the dyson animal and I love it, but the next time I get a vacuum it will be an electrolux

Answer by fizixx
My dad has an Oreck…..it’s very light, but it’s worthless as a vacuum. I’d never buy one.

I also know someone with a cleaning service. All she used were electrolux…..she said they were problematic, and was going to switch brands.

Answer by elle
Dyson animal. Hands down.

Answer by Shelly
Dyson, they work the best, especially if you have pets.

Answer by Love Life
Meile, it is wonderful and will last much much longer than any other around. u can get them on ebay too

Answer by Karen L
I’m very happy with my elderly Filter Queen, which works as well now as when I bought it 20 years ago. I think it’s probably about 35 years old now. And lala is right, TriStar is a wonderful vacuum cleaner.

Answer by AddieJ
My mother gave me her Rainbow about 10 years ago. I had to have it cleaned this year(1st time). It was made in 1985. Call and ask them to demostrate it for you. The dirt and dust goes into a water tank and not back into your house.

Answer by Vitamin Meppa. fading away.
I have a Dyson Hepa and it is fantastic. Expensive but worth every cent. If mine blew up tomorrow I would get into debt to buy another. I have 5 people, 1 cat and 2 dogs routinely in my house. When I vacuum the house has no smell and the floors look amazing.

Question: What kind of healthy fish recipes can I use for the whole family?

I am needing to lose weight and lower my cholesterol and I know some fish are healthier than others. My son (7 yrs old) loves battered fish and my hubby hates fish. I heard there are some types of fish that are not as strong tasting as others. Can anyone give me some advice not only for recipe’s that are not only tasty and family friendly, but healthy as well.
Thanks!

ANSWER:

Answer by Beautiful
i really dnt know any recipes but look into preparing baked fish

Answer by Miz Lamb
ALL foods are healthy if kept in proper portions! It is when we supersize the portions that we get in trouble.

There are NO unhealthy recipes.

So you need to lose a bit of weight! go get a copy of South Beach Living and follow the phase 2 food plan. It is a very balanced plan for losing weight and for diabetics.

All of the SBL books have fantastic menus and recipes in them.

As for your cholesterol, that is a myth dreamed up by one so called scientist and has no real scientific basis behind it. It is a “golden goose” for the big Pharma companies as we can never quit taking the meds once the doctors get us on them or the cholesterol goes right back to where it was. Most of those pills have some really disasterous side effects that never get resolved once we are off the pills.

Answer by gypsierose
get to know the person at the fish counter – they can provide a world of advice and normally they have some good recipes there for you as well. Stay away from anything battered – that is more cholesterol as most people do not heat or cook it at the right temperature (too high and it burns without cooking, too low and the oil is absorbed).

Baking fish is the best. If the son likes a crispy crust, coat it in flour, corn meal or breadcrumbs before baking. use little oil. Flavor with salt, garlic, lemon, pepper or whatever seasoning you normally enjoy. just enough to coat the front and back.

Types of fish: most white fish has a mild flavor. If your husband does not like the taste of salmon (which is good in omega 3 but has a distinct taste), try tuna. The most important is to get to know the fish person because since most fish are not served whole, you cannot tell how long it has been sitting in the counter. They can advise which ones have just been delivered. Stick with whitefish, cod, tilapia which are all mild in flavor.

Answer by mtn.camping
Cod In Paprika Sauce

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large onions, chopped
2 medium green peppers, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (16 oz.) tomatoes, cut up
2 cups water
1 cup dry red wine
1/2 cup sliced green onions
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 bay leaves
2 lbs. redfish, bluefish or other fish steaks
1 lemon, sliced
Hot cooked rice

In 5-quart Dutch oven over low heat, cook oil and flour about 15 minutes until mixture turns deep brown, stirring often. Stir in onions, green peppers, celery and garlic. Cook until vegetables are tender, stirring often.
Stir in tomatoes, water, wine, green onions, parsley, salt, allspice, pepper, cayenne and bay leaves. Over high heat, heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer, uncovered, 40 minutes or until mixture is thickened, stirring occasionally.
Cut fish into 8 serving pieces; add to tomato mixture along with lemon slices, covering fish with sauce. Simmer 15 to 20 minutes until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork, stirring occasionally. Discard lemon slices and bay leaves. Season to taste.
To serve: Spoon fish and sauce over rice in soup bowls.
(8 cups – 8 servings)

Answer by Welcome to my world
Healthy Fish Recipes
Do your heart and body good—eat fish. Studies show that eating fish at least once a week, especially cold-water species high in omega-3 fatty acids, reduces the risk of heart problems dramatically. Other research suggests that regularly eating omega-3–rich fish may prevent or relieve depression, joint problems, Alzheimer’s disease and, perhaps, several cancers. Even seafood less bountiful in omega-3s, like scallops and crab, are rich in other key nutrients and offer a rich flavor that belies their lean, healthful nature.
Baja-Battered Fish
You may not think of fish as a taco ingredient, but the Mexican-inspired fish-taco craze is beginning to spread. Once you’ve had one, you’ll understand. This recipe is a healthful version of the battered, deep-fried and crispy fish
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
* 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
* 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
* 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
* 1-1 1/4 pounds tilapia, or other firm white fish, sliced into 1/2-inch-by-2-inch strips
* 3 tablespoons canola oil, divided

Preparation

   1. Place beer, all-purpose flour, whole-wheat flour, salt, oregano, mustard, cayenne and pepper in a blender; blend until smooth, scraping down the sides as necessary. Transfer the batter to a shallow baking dish. Add fish, turning to coat all sides.
2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Transfer one-third of the battered fish to the pan, placing each piece into a little oil. Cook until golden brown, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Transfer cooked fish to a plate; keep warm. Add 1 tablespoon oil and half the remaining fish to the pan; cook as directed above, reducing the heat if necessary. Cook the remaining fish with the remaining 1 tablespoon oil. Serve immediately.

Tips & Notes

    * Make Ahead Tip: The fish is best when served immediately, but will keep, wrapped, in the refrigerator for up to 1 day. To reheat, place on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 375°F.

Question: To have good healthy living, what kind of fruit and how many is recommended daily?

The answer in the following:

Answer by ranger_co_1_75
It is different for a diabetic than for a non diabetic person. You need to distinguish which one you are.

For a diabetic taking insulin, count your fruit in your carb total. The size of the portion will depend on the amount of carbs you allot to fruit. Remember you should not have more than 45 carbs per meal.

For a diabetic not taking insulin, but using exercise and diet to control blood sugar, test your blood sugar before each meal and then adjust your carb (fruit counts as a carb) intake according to the goal set by your M.D. or Diabetic Nutritionist. Remember 1 carb equals 3 points rise in blood sugar.

Banana’s and grapes are the only fruits forbidden to diabetics.

Answer by Monica
You did not mention if you are a diabetic or not. But really, it doesn’t matter. Fruits and vegetables should be a part of your diet, diabetic or not.

I totally disagree with what the poster above me said about grapes and bananas. My 2 year old daughter is a type 1 diabetic, and she gets at least one banana per day, and she frequently gets one carb serving of grapes. And I can tell you that a carb serving of fruits will keep her blood sugars lower than a carb serving of processed food, crackers, or just about anything else.

And even a type 2 diabetic will benefit from fruit. I have a friend who swears that eating a banana every day helps keep his type 2 under control.

Just don’t forget the veggies ) they’re very good for you too.

What do you think? Answer below!

Well I want to start this new “healthy diet” because I believe that im very unhealthy and eat wayyy too much junk food. It’s also so I can lose a few pounds, and I also heard eating healthier enhances your beauty. What are some healthy foods I should buy?

The following is the answer:

Answer by ~::[ORACLE]::~
First of all, more vegetables and fruit. Some fruits (i.e. berries) contain a lot of antioxidants, to prevent your skin from aging. Vegetables and fruits have fibre and vitamins, which is one important thing for a healthy diet.

Add up on the carbohydrate! Pasta, plain wheat bread, nuts, potatoes are good and they bring you energy to keep moving everyday. Eat potatoes but don’t be a couch potato.

Exercise is awesome! Jogging, biking, going to the gym a few times (more than once) a week is enough. Makes you sweat and burn out your fat. Heighten your stamina…really good.

That doesn’t mean you forget about your dairy products. Eat cheese, drink milk and spread butter on bread. Calcium is good for the teeth and bones. As long you don’t over-eat, it will still be under control.

Meat and poultry are also important. A good protein supply. Protein helps you with growth. And this one is also an under-control-food-if-you-don’t-over-eat kind of food.

Answer by hisamericangirl
Here’s a link to the top ten healthiest foods:

I hope this helps! Good luck!

Q&A: What is a healthy juice kind of drink that you can drink all the time, everyday?

I should drink a lot of water, because I know it’s healthy… but I don’t like it. I usually mix it with like half a glass of orange juice or apple juice something. I’m kinda tired of just plain apple juice and orange juice. I really like the V8 Splash, with the fruit and vegetables in it, I think that may be a good drink? But it has to be something that is not bad for me, and that is healthy in large amounts since I will drink just that, and mix in water (And have a glass of water a few times a week). I used to buy the big cases of Diet Snapple and drink nothing but that… but I feel there must be something healthier out there.

Q&A:

Answer by Keepsie
Try Crystal Light. I live on that stuff. 5 calories per 20oz serving. Lots of different flavors. Or Unsweetened tea with a splash of fruit juice.

Answer by Anga
Have you tried vitamin water? its really tasty, hydrates you, has ingredients that are good for you, and has less sugar than juice….not to mention the vitamins.

Answer by ellx33
Ew, how do you mix water and orange juice? Agreed, crystal light is amazing. I drink it everyday, it only has 5 calories and there are so many flavors. My favorites are wild strawberry and raspberry lemonade.

Answer by Monkeyguts
Did you try whiskey?
It sounds to me like you have a sweet tooth
what about that flavoured sweetened water aquafina makes
I dont remember what it is called
I know about it cause the bottles look the same and I accidentally bought some once,

Answer by LadyLynn
Cranberry juice. And now they have mixtures like Cran-apple and a lot more. That’s really healthy to drink in order to prevent Bladder infections or Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs.)

Answer by Mr. Fancy Pants
V8 berry blend

Answer by jayakumar v
Best drink in this world is pure, not so cold, mountain water.

What kind of healthy fish recipes can I use for the whole family?
I am needing to lose weight and lower my cholesterol and I know some fish are healthier than others. My son (7 yrs old) loves battered fish and my hubby hates fish. I heard there are some types of fish that are not as strong tasting as others. Can anyone give me some advice not only for recipe’s that are not only tasty and family friendly, but healthy as well.
Thanks!

Some people have been talking about ‘healthy fast food’. I’m wondering what healthy fast food is, really. Do you know?

A: I like to get my “healthy” fast food fix from Chick-Fil-A. I order their grilled chicken sandwich along with light mayo and replace the fries with a fruit cup instead. This is healthy and actually a really delicious meal.
Subway can also be considered “healthy” fast food depending on what type of sandwich you get and what ingredients you put on it

A: It’s making healthier options at fast food places.
-Instead of french fries, get a baked potato
-Instead of a Cheeseburger or fried chicken sandwich, get grilled chicken
-Try one of their salads
-Instead of soda, get a diet soda or tea.
-Instead of fries, get the apples slices (McDonalds offers this)

A: Salads or grilled chicken sandwiches…preferably with veggies

A: El Pollo Loco: A two piece chicken meal with steamed vegetables as a side
Two tacos al carbon with a side salad with low calorie/fat free Italian dressing
Subway:
Turkey sandwich on wheat no may, mustard, cheese
Turkey and ham sandwich on wheat
Etc.
Baja Fresh:
Two baja chicken tacos with a side salad with fat free dressing
Two baja chicken tacos with a small tortilla soup
Long John Silver’s” Their new salmon entrees
That’s how I would eat if I were going to a fast food joint.
Stay away from cream sauces, too much cheese, fried stuff, sweets like massive-sized cupcakes, etc.

A: Chipotle uses naturally raised meats, plus you can get vegetarian options and salads. Just don’t eat all of it at one time.

A: Sometimes all you need to do is just watch your portion sizes. A cheeseburger isn’t bad for you-as long as you eat just one. And if you’re still hungry, if that doesn’t fill you up, go home and have some fruit or something

A: go baked not fried.
try subway they have healthy options.
