I do like checking out various fast-food chains to see what is different. So here in Malaysia, a devout Muslim country, McDonalds serves only Halal meat with "no additives, persevatives and enhancers and are cooked without the addition of fats or oils." Which really sounds a whole lot healthier. I have to wonder if it is? Could a fast-food burger be significantly less bad for you? It tasted the same. Which leads to question 2: if they can make a healthier, more ethical fast-food for cheap in one country, why can’t they do it back home? I don’t get it.

I have *such* a soft spot for dried apples, but they’re so bleeping expensive! Much cheaper and healthier to home dry your own in the oven:
Preheat oven to 300F, spread thin sliced apples out on a cooling rack set over a cookie sheet.
Bake 15 minutes, rotate the sheet (and move around pans if using more than 1), bake 15-18 minutes longer.
Turn off the oven and allow pan(s) to sit inside for 3 hours.
Store in airtight containers @ room temp!

cheap healthy food–: What food is cheap but healthy to buy?
What food is cheap & healthy to buy, Cause I am on a budget.
I’m basically a student.

What is cheap to buy for breakfast?
What is cheap to buy for Lunch?
What is cheap to buy for dinner?

Healthy. Healthy Healthy! Food only but cheap.

Write the type of food it is…not just oat. What type of oat? Protien? What cheap but healthy gives protien.
Would it be good to buy canned food? Is it also healthy to eat canned beans? & Canned soup or veggies or fruit?

The answer in the following: (Hint: The answer is not necessarily.)

Answer by .^.
rice, dried beans, lentils and veggies and fruits.

Answer by Vulcan
The best thing you can eat are eggs – and you can have them any number of ways for any meal. Eggs are the protein against which all other protein is measured – it’s the perfect protein for people to eat – it supplies all the amino acids in the right amounts. And they’re cheap.

The neatest thing is that they come in their own packages – you can boil up a dozen and put some in your pockets on the way to school. Some people will eat 6 or 8 eggs a day – I do that on the Atkins diet – and my cholesterol was 120 on a blood test recently.

Answer by Girlie
What is cheap to buy for breakfast? Wheat bread, eggs, fruit, oatmeal,
What is cheap to buy for Lunch? Yogurt, granola bars, pasta, tuna, salad
What is cheap to buy for dinner? Beans, frozen veggies, stir fry, chicken, rice

Answer by Butterfly Lover
Rolled oats or steel cut oats (pricier) haven’t had the hull removed so they are better nutritionally. 1/2 cup mixed with 1 cup of low fat milk is a cheap, healthy breakfast.

Pasta is cheap and can be prepared in many healthy ways. Buy a head of broccoli and saute it with a bit of garlic and toss with cooked thin spaghetti. You can get 2 meals for less than $ 2.00

Buy dry beans of any type you like for about $ 1.50 per pound. Cook 1/3 at a time and get enough for 4 meals. Make chili, wraps, tacos with them.

Buy frozen vegetables. They are usually cheaper per pound than fresh and actually more nutritious than something that has been shipped 1000 miles partly ripe.

Buy brown rice and add vegetables and a bit of meat for a complete meal. You can make fried rice, mexican rice, rice pilaf by changing one or 2 ingredients.

What do you think? Answer below!

by vancouverbcfoodbank

cheap healthy food
cheap healthy food–: What are some cheap, healthy wet food for cats that i can buy?
I am on a bugdet and i cannot afford the super expensive ones grainfree wet food brands. Does anyone know of wetfood that that is cheap and healthy for cats?

The answer in the following: (Hint: The correct answer provided by the users, does not guarantee the right.)

Answer by stubby
Friskies wet food is fine.

Answer by Tim
Friskies will work best imo, but go to a local giant eagle and chekc what they have. you dont need a namebrand for it to work

Answer by Christina
Friskies. At a local store like WalMart, they cost about 4 cans for a dollar, and the cans come pretty big in shape. They have a large variety of flavors and types of meat, so you can experiment with them to see which ones your cat likes. My cats love the Turkey and Giblets Dinner flavor. The food is very moist and “juicy,” so it’s tasty for the cats and it’s easy to chew and digest. (Please don’t ask me how I know how it is tasty. >< Oh gosh, lol.)

I think Whiskas canned food is great, too. They're about the same price as Friskies, and it is cut into little chunks, and has a lot of sauce for your cat to enjoy. Easy to break down, and healthy.

Answer by Jordann
well if you buy large cans the healthy can be cheap! I will buy the 13oz can (soup can size) of a grain free and its 2.29! just put the extra in a glass container in the fridge and it works out just as cheap as the crappy stuff!

Answer by feliciadaniel_s
First off, Friskies is not healthy. I know a lot of people think Purina is healthy but it’s not. It’s just overly publicized.

If you want healthy but still affordable, go with Chicken Soup For The Cat Lover’s Soul. It is one of the healthiest brands on the market but sells for the same price as Purina and other crappy foods like it.

A can of Chicken Soup costs anywhere from .50 cents to .85 cents depending on where you live. Same as other brands. So, definitely go with Chicken Soup for your baby. I understand about being on a budget and still wanting to provide healthy food for the feline baby but opting for “junk” food instead of a healthy food will cause damage.

Answer by susan n
I just want to point out what people sometimes overlook.

Premium cat food is more expensive but when you purchase the large cans they become much less so ounce per ounce.

Wellness, for example costs about $ 1.55 for a 5.5 oz can or about 28c per oz. At $ 2.05 for a 12 oz can or about 17c per oz it becomes much more reasonably priced. And if you consider that there is a lot more actual food in it than the same amount of a cheaper brand like Friskies, and you will feed less, the expensive food is not so expensive.

A cat that eats two cans a day of Friskies may only eat 5 or 6 oz a day of Wellness.

Another inexpensive way to feed a cat is a raw meat/bones/organs diet. An average cat will eat no more than 5 oz a day and if you shop wisely you can save a great deal on cat food feeding raw.

If you are interested in raw diet for your cat make sure that you ask a lot more questions first and do your research. You should know what you are doing first.

What do you think? Answer below!

ask your Q on FB- www.facebook.com FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER- twitter.com MY OTHER CHANNEL JUST FOR WOMEN www.youtube.com FREE GUY FAT LOSS PROGRAM- fatasstobaddass.com ALL MY VIDEOS! nttp I know what its like to have to eat on a budget. Despite an awesome scholarship and good job, I was a broke ass college student. I blame it on the wine and women. Mainly the women though. Those damn support payments Whatever the reason, here is the BEST guide to saving YOUR money at the grocery store, to maximize the amount of high quality food you eat, without exploding your bank account. When shopping smart, even if you are bulking, you can spend less than -60 a week with high quality food. TOP TIPS 1. Shop for the deals on the meat. Every week at all the grocery stores, meat varies in price. Sometimes chicken breast is .99 a lb sometimes its .99 a lb, you have to pay attention to the sales and strike while the iron is hot. Stock that shit up in the freezer 2. JOIN a large discount retail store like COSTCO, Sam’s Club or Trader Joes. These warehouse facilities sell Olive Oil, Peanut Butter, Tuna and Egg Whites for FAR cheaper than anywhere else. Buying in BULK always saves you money. 3. When it comes to meat, which is the most expensive thing to buy, look for large cuts of meat on sale that you can butcher yourself. Also ask the local butcher for last-date meat discounts. Chop it up and freeze the rest, you’ll save A LOT of money this way. 4. When it comes to produce like vegetables …

| Eat Cheap & Healthy food

One of the biggest myths when it comes to a healthy diet is that people usually think it’s expensive. In reality, that statement is not true; the following are some tips for you to consider so you can buy healthy food in a very affordable way without spending too much money:

You must have in your cupboard nutritious cheap food like pasta, rice, milk, cereal, eggs, spice for salads and potatoes. Most of these belong to the bottom of the food pyramid. By eating these food we make sure we get a great nutritional value needed for our everyday life and they are easy to use with any recipe.

It’s so recommended to buy seasonal fruit and vegetables because they are available in large amount and they are typically affordable for the public.

If you want to save money over the long term, buying precooked products won’t help you whatsoever, that’s why you need to plan your meals and you need to have the right ingredients in your cupboard.

To save time, a good option is to cook a large amount of food and then freeze; a great idea is to cook a good amount of food and freeze them during the weekend or during any day you have more free time, and then separate various rations to eat the following weekdays.

Usually, proteins can be found not only in meat, but in soy, pulse and cereal, this is something really important to take into account because they are actually cheaper than buying meat.

Never forget that you can find a great vitamin contribution in vegetable soups, which are very healthy and also really affordable.

Buying a large amount of food can end up being cheaper than buying small rations: for example, a big package of cereal is actually cheaper than a regular bread based breakfast, and cereals are even healthier.

Losing weight is hard for some people but definitely not impossible.

If you want to change your eating habits for good, don’t forget to eat healthy. Choosing the right food is the starting point on getting a flat stomach.

Do you want to lose weight FAST? Then, I recommend you check out the diet solution program review. I’m also the author of the truth about abs scam.

Are you having a hard time stretching your grocery dollars during the current economic downturn? You’re not alone. Holly Scherer, RD, says you can follow a few easy guidelines and still buy healthy foods, rather than switching to a diet of potato chips, macaroni and cheese, and a fast-food burger. She suggests that you make your own coffee, buy fruits and vegetables that are in season, occasionally replace meat with protein sources like eggs and beans, and, no matter how tempting it is, skip the fast-food drive-thru window. www2.med.umich.edu
