simple recipe for goulash|Easy traditional Hungarian Goulash (Gulyasleves / Gúlyas)

This easy recipe for traditional hungarian beef stew gets its savor and color from paprika, while the potatoes cook with the meat. They all melt into an incredibly rich and flavorful pan gravy during the slow cooking process.

@Szilagyi23 that’s fucking rude when someone’s mother is cooking on the video. If you’ve ever travelled in Hungary, you will clearly know: a) most gulyas differs from one home to another, b) Gulyas is usually a soupier preparation than we see in America or the rest of Europe c) PÖRKÖLT is the more common name for the thick meaty stew, d) Gulyas is a soup of similar flavor but has the addition of carrot and parsnips…so maybe you can stop being a jerk about it.

@blondecat666 Hi, blonde. I agree with the turkey shit but I think your Ms Clairol has to be a shade darker. Goulash is a popular dish and it does nor have to follow any stiff rules.

@Saschriber How am I being hateful???? I said Grandma was sweet, unfortunately her dish has nothing to do with gulyásleves, especially ‘traditional’.

wow… I cant believe how angry some of these people get on here :

My Oma makes this as well, her husband was Hungarian. I don’t think she cooks the meat with flour first, but this lady obviously knows what shes doing. It looks really good :) I will have to try it. She is so cute C:

hello .. love the simple way you prepared this very authentic dish. Love your gran! this is great! I do mine similar, each family is different! I use olive oil, garlic, 3 onions diced, saute it a while, add garlic, minced about two tablespoons, cubed filet mignon or any tender beef, (about 3 lbs), bay leaf, minced paprika, one red one green, can diced tomatoes, simmer in water to cover.. add 4 cubed potatoes.. tsp caraway, marjoram, salt pepper 1/4 tsp hot red pepper simmer about an hour ;)

Never heard of turkey being healthier than beef. You NEVER coat your meat in flour, neither you use wine. You don’t use oil, but bacon. Meat first, than the onions???? WTF? Cumin seeds? Parsley roots? Where are they? Paprika powder goes on the onions before the meat. Jeez, sweet Grandma, but she is the worst cook I have ever seen. Goulash is a soup, and this ‘dish’ looks utterly disgusting.
