I suspect you’ve missed one vital ingredient, MSG!
By FroggyDogg, October 14, 2011 @ 11:29 am
Pretty good attempt. I haven’t tried this recipe, but it looks pretty close to the real thing. As a former McD’s employee, I can confirm their pies ARE, or at least WERE deep fried from frozen in ‘Vegetable Shortening’ a kind of vegetable Lard. I was an employee about 25 years ago, and they may well bake the pies now.

@waffleberry12 Cause everything deep-fried is always super delicious.
By kevseb66, October 14, 2011 @ 1:01 pm
@R3DR3APER The pies sold presently at Mcdonalds are in fact baked but I believe he’s attempting to duplicate the original pies sold at Mcdonalds several years ago much like the pie Popeye’s sells.

Hiya! thanks for your great recipes! I´m from a far country. How can I prepare the pastry you are using in this recipe at home? Do you have a good recipe for that pastry?

Nicko, If Im The Judge, Ill say it 100/100 cuz of two reasons. 1 : Its So Yummy. 2 : When you Eat, That Crispy Sound Just Gave Me A Spell That Makes Me Really hungry!

Nicko, I want to marry you and have your kids (even if I am a bloke!).
On a less silly note, McDonalds took these off the menu where I am about 10-11 years ago and I have had withdrawl symptoms ever since. Thanks for this recepie, and I never thought that they would be that easy! I’m hoisting a big glass of wine to your health at this very instant!

By EuropeanGuy87, October 15, 2011 @ 12:04 am
Maybe I would of make it..if the video did not start with that stupid “epic music” – that just pretty much says that this is cheap..
By willsham45, October 15, 2011 @ 12:51 am
Bramley apples are the only apples for pies, crumbles and sauce. Still looks good. Might take a look at that pie crust though

I notice you didnt blind bake the pastry. Will it be firm enough given the filling is letting off a lot of juice?

@madiha1436
When you let the apples sit for a while, they form some juices at the bottom of the bowl. He just poured that over the apple filling.
