Q&A: Desperate for help with living healthy?

Hi,I did the following:
Question: Desperate for help with living healthy?

Hello, I’m trying to make a lifestyle change and live healthy. I’m currently morbidly obese (400pounds at 6’4” and 23 years old) and in my opinion I need to make a big change if I want to continue living. So far I have been riding the stationary bike for the past 3 days for 30 minutes a day at medium level. I want to start eating healthy, but am not sure how to go about doing that. I’ve cut out all fast food and sweets. I drink diet coke and water (mostly diet coke though). But I need help with ideas, tips, and suggestions on what I should eat. Am I going about this correctly? Do you have any good recipes for healthy eating? So far I made baked seasoned chicken breast with jasmine rice and cream of mushroom on top for dinner. What can I do about breakfast on the weekends? Before, I use to fry up some eggs along with a couple pieces of bacon and have toast on the side, what can I do to replace that and still make it enjoyable? What about lunches when I go to work? For the past couple days I’ve brought 2 nutri-grain bars, a small baggy of popcorn, two pears, and some wheat pita and hummus (store bought and tastes horrible). I snack on all that during the entire 10 hours I’m at work but am still hungry when I get home. Any suggestions for lunch and snacks? Is it good to eat a snack between meals as long as I keep the main meal portions small? I am a college student and funds are a little tight, but I can juggle things around to afford a little more on groceries if needed.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi I just wanted to say you drink Diet Coke??? No! That has more sugar then regular coke! Don’t do diet sodas. But your story is long and I can’t explain all of it right now, so you need Jillians help, trainer from the biggest looser show, she has a website, Go to www.JillianMichaels.com and she has many tips and exercies avalable on her website. Good luck on your journey! I know you can do it!

there is a lot of different advise for getting healthy….but the 3 main things that you need to interalize are:

1) You must be consistent. This is a lifestyle change and not a diet.
2) You must realize when you are truly hungry vs when you are craving. Certain foods can be just as powerful, if not much more so, then drugs. You must realize that you have an addiction and you must fight to break free from the addiction. I highly recommend getting on a detox diet so that you can reset your body with regards to food.
3) You must address those issues which make you crave food. This can mean counseling..this can mean being real with yourself and owning up to repressed insecurities.

Good luck and feel free to write me if you are interested in a good detox diet.
