Healthy Food That Is Easy To Make?

I am going to a university, so Im going to be living alone without my mom :( I don’t know how to cook…so what are some easy recipes of healthy food I can cook?
I dont wanna eat fast food or junk food because I dont want to get fat. :s

A:              Eat a balanced diet with all the food groups. Not sure what you have to cook on-if your allowed a microwave, toaster oven or crockpot or a George Foreman grill in your dorm, it will help. Ask your mom to teach you how to make your favorite meals.
With a crockpot you can cook while you are in class and you can have a meal for a few days. You can cook just about everything in a microwave. You can make a roast with potatoes, carrots and onions and then cut up the meat the next day and make stew with gravy over rice or pasta. You can make chili, sloppy joes or tacos-just brown the ground meat (beef, chicken, turkey or pork) and add a can of Manwich or taco seasoning. You can make hot dogs and hamburgers. You can make baked or microwave potatoes and top with butter, cheese, sour cream, leftover vegetables, meats or chili. You can make eggs, bacon and sausage. Raw veggies are good with or without dip. Canned, frozen or fresh fruit. If you buy in season foods they are cheaper.

I always think a student knowing five or six dishes can not only eat healthier, but also save money in several ways.
Most people don’t realise that eating junk food is more expensive than you think. When you get to uni if your the person in your circle of friends who can cook then your place will be the centre of your friends social life….plus you can make a trade off…by offering to cook if other friends buy the groceries.
You still have few weeks before starting uni so get practicing now. Here are a list of suggested meals.
Spaghetti Bolanaise ——-(minced beef, onions, fresh garlic tinned tomatoes, red wine* (optional)
Fritata- ———-An Italian omelette cooked in the oven.(you throw all kinds of vegetables and meat into this.
Fish cakes———Basically cooked white fish ,mash potato then a few things to make them spicy breadcrumb them if you wish.
Toad in the Hole ——–Sausages baked in yorkshire pudding Batter.
Baked Bean Casserole—-again a great starting point to use up tomatoes, mushrooms, sausages, bacon.
Quiche—with a ready bought short crust makes this easy to make.
Stirfrys are quick to cook once you have everthing sliced up.
Home made sweet and sour sauce can be made from a fruit puree like mango (or juice) plus vinegar and a little soy sauce.
Thicken the sauce slightly with a mixture of cornflour and water.
and a couple mexican dishes that are cheap to make.

A:           Shepard’s Pie:
-Brown 1 pound beef/ ground turkey
-Add 1-2 cloves of garlic, 1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce, and 3/4 cup ketchup
-Cover and simmer 20 minutes
-Coat casserole dish w/ nonstick cooking spray
1st Layer – meat sauce
2nd Layer – Green beans and corn
3rd Layer – mashed potatoes
Top with cheddar cheese (as much as you want)
350 degrees (preheated oven) for 30 minutes – bake uncovered
Meatloaf
1 1/2 pounds ground meat
1 slice of bread
1 egg
1 package of Lipton’s Onion Soup Mix
pepper to taste
4 TBSP ketchup
1/2 cup half and half
*SAUCE*
4 TBSP apple cider vinegar
2 TBSP packed brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix sauce together until smooth and set aside
Add all ingredients together. Put in a loaf pan. Pour suace over and cook for 1 hour 15 minutes. Do this whether you use the sauce or not
Keilbasa Dinner
BBQ Sauce —-
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 tsp chili powder
1 1/2 cup water
celery seed > pinch
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp nutmeg and paprika
1/2 tsp black pepper
hot sauce to taste
–COOK ‘TIL THICKENED–
1 lb kielbasa sliced (like quarters)
BBQ sauce (made already or use 1 cup store bought)
1 cup water
simmer kielbasa, sauce, and water until thickened. Serve over cooked white rice

Cream Cheese Biscuits Good w/chocolate gravy
2 cups Bisquick or other baking mix
4 ounces cream cheese
1/2 to 1 tablespoon milk
These biscuits are extra simple, but they are a perfect match with chocolate gravy. Combine Bisquick or other baking mix and cream cheese. A pastry blender works beautifully. Add enough mik to moisten the dough. It’s really a preference thing. Put the dough on a lightly floured surface, and knead it a few times. Roll out the dough to whatever thickness you like, cut out, and place on a greased/sprayed/Silpat-ed baking sheet.
The number of biscuits is based on the thickness of your rolled out dough & the size of the cutter. So from 6 to 12. Bake at 425 for about 12 minutes or until browned.
Chocolate gravy
1/2 c. butter
4 tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 c all purpose flour
3/4 c sugar
2c milk
melt butter in a skillet over med. heat. Add cocoa and flour stir until a thick paste is formed. Stir in sugar and milk. Cook, stirring constantly until thick

A:               

Chicken tenderloins that are frozen separately are great when cooking for one…as are frozen fish fillets.
cooking in foil packets keeps you from having dirty dishes to clean
An ideal for the chicken
lay 2 tenderloins on a piece of foil,top with thinly sliced onions,potatoes &,carrots &season to taste with S&P tightly seal the foil around the chicken and veggies and bake at 350(pre heated) for 30 mins
If you like rice….keep cooked rice in your fridge for quick stir fries…you can also add rice you your fish and chicken packets..
Flour torts are great for making little pizzas..so are split English muffins.

A:             Cous Cous. (Small pasta) I use broth instead of water, and I add purple onion, orange peppers, and a bit of olive oil.
Or you could add whatever you like.
It only take 5-10 minutes until you are eating!
