    I highly value book reviews both professional and those on sites such as Amazon. I order books for a library in many genres that I do not read. I rely upon the reviewers to help me find the best books in each area. They also help me to make the best use of the library budget.
    I personally will read a book with a bad review only if it is from an author I normally enjoy or because I see others reading it and want to know what the appeal may be. I will also read books outside of my normal range if I find a review that makes the book sound exceptionally interesting.

    Yes, I would read a book with a negative review if I was familiar with the author and liked his/her other work. More important than any one review is to take a look at a number of the reviews and see if there are similar opinions, see if the negatives outweigh the positives or vice-versa. If I like a book that has a lot of car chases, for example, and a reviewer gave it a bad review because it had too many car chases, I’d probably read it. Of course, the quality of the writing has a lot to do with whether i will read a book or not.

    I read both positive and negative reviews to see both sides. I try to make assumptions of what I would think about it based on what other people say about it.
    Reading the negative reviews that give an explanation is the most informative in a way. I like to know what the people who didn’t like it have to say to see if is a strong arguement/good reason not to like it or just a biased opinion.

    I totally do, firstly I see the reviews of average day people like you and me, then I see the actual reviews from the newspapers for example The Guardian (in the UK) because I refuse to waste money on a book that is essentially a load of rubbish.
    I recommend you do this because it means that you won’t be let down or waste your money.
    Take electronics for example, will you buy a glossy camera just because it looks good even though it has had bad reviews? Just like a book the cover or synopsis fools people, the reviews are out there to help us. People won’t be negative about a book unless they mean it.

    Importance? Not too much. I do enjoy reading reviews, though. If it’s a book I’ve been looking forward to, I’ll probably read it no matter what the reviews are.
    Mostly, I like reviews because they mention books that I wouldn’t otherwise know about. A mediocre review won’t turn me off if it still sounds like something I might be interested in.
    And there a few reviewers that I trust more than others. Some sites tend to give everything 4 or 5 Fluffy Bunnies or Pink Sparkly Hearts or whatever, no matter how awful the book is. I don’t even bother with those places.

    Yes I do. It depends of who is reviewing. If it’s a reviewer that I trust and have followed for years, I will read a book they say is good. If I have a certain author I like I will read their book even if it gets bad reviews.
