car sick by lynn sloman

In ‘Car Sick: Solutions for our car-addicted culture’, Lynn Sloman presents us with an examination of the car-clogged society that is Britain at the start of the 21st century. She contextualises the state we are in, describing the way the car culture has developed over the past 50 years, accommodated by enthusiastic town planners and civil engineers eager to pander to the appetite for driving that the British public has been encouraged to develop. Sloman explains how the motorist has been given priority over pedestrians, cyclists and communities, and how developers, big business and politicians have used the British yen for more cars and more roads as an excuse to ‘steer’ society towards a situation where more and more driving is a foregone conclusion. Shops move out of town, public transport deteriorates.
Sloman looks at the environmental, social and economic cause and effect, using excellent examples of alternatives and good practice elsewhere to demonstrate that it doesn’t have to be like this – that we don’t have to live in a car-clogged, car-controlled culture, that by taking responsibility for our travel choices and putting pressure on the ‘decision makers’ we can begin to re-focus our communities away from cars and develop cleaner, quieter, safer, more people oriented places to live and work.
‘Car Sick’ is an intelligent, sensible, easy-to-read book, full of clear and practical solutions. Sloman sets out a positive vision of a better way to live. This book should be a must-read for anyone concerned, whether personally or professionally, with improving our travel choices and the world we live in.

tips:book reviews by–: Why do the most popular sports betting sites have bad reviews by people who use them?
I was looking at all the top rated sports book reviews by just recular people who use them. I find that that even the best sports books with the A ratings have a majority of people complaining about the payout issues mostly. Example if there is 20 reviews on a top rated sports book 15 of them will say they suck at payouts. How can i feel safe playing at any sports book if even the best have bad reviews?

Probably the people with complaints are more motivated to post reviews, so that skews it. If it’s a reputable book, you’ll get your money. The worst case scenario is, some sites might be slow with it, like maybe a couple weeks or a month. But they will pay you, they’d be out of business by now if word spread that they didn’t pay people. From what I hear though, most of the top-rated ones are fast with payouts, and offer different payout options.
Here’s a good review site and probably the best odds-listing site:

It is just that most sportsbooks have certain rules that not all players are aware of. For example, some sportsbooks will put a hold on all withdrawals for x amount of days (usually 2-4) for “processing”. People expect to get their money immediately but that just isn’t the case. And then there are the deposit bonus issues. You always need to bet so much (turnover) before you can cash out any money you received as a bonus. Again people don’t read the fine print and get mad when they are told they can’t cash out their money because they have not fulfilled their bonus requirements. If you stick with the top sportsbooks and read all the fine print you will be fine. Just don’t expect to be able to cash out your funds immediately (especially if you are a U.S. resident).
I use SportBet (A- rating and in the 5Dimes family) as my main book and have never had any issues with them. Read more on them here: nttp://layitdownandwin.com/sportbet.html

we need the 30:30 solution
30kW cars with a maximum speed of 30kph
- about as fast as a bicycle, about as fast as traffic actually flows in cities.
If hybrids with high-torque electric motors are used, 30kW may be to high! Because electric motors accelerate so well they tempt the over-use of energy.
ban the 100:100 and especially the 200:200
(kW:kph)
